Command Scale in AutoCAD
Often, the drawing has to create the same objects, but of different size: increase or decrease the size of objects. Perhaps you want to change the scale of the already constructed objects in AutoCAD. Just for a change in the scale of objects in AutoCAD responds Scale command.
Directly proportional scaling in AutoCAD means that changing the scale of the object, the length and the breadth of it is changed to the same value (without distortion).
To change the AutoCAD drawing scale in general use annotative scale printing and printing scale viewports, not command Scale.
Call the Scale command in AutoCAD, use one of the following methods:
- Modify item from the menu bar - Scale line;
- Home tab of the ribbon tools - in the Modify group - the Scale button;
- on the Modify toolbar - Scale button;
- or to register the name of the command in the command line Scale.
How to change the scale of the objects in the default AutoCAD
By default, available to us a way to scale objects change in AutoCAD by specifying a scaling factor. Operation scaling Avtokad object can be performed prior to operation, and in deferred mode selection.
Call the command Scale. prompted the command prompt:
Select objects:
We need to select the objects to scale in AutoCAD. Select the rectangle and press Enter. AutoCAD prompts you:
Specify base point:
Specify the base point about which the object will be the scaling operation. Reference point of scaling in the process of changing its position does not change the scale of the object. Let us arm using Endpoint object snap the lower left corner of the rectangle. AutoCAD displays the following query:
Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference] <1.0000>:
AutoCAD requires to specify the scaling factor from us. Default scaling factor is equal to unity in AutoCAD. If you set the scale factor is greater than one, the selected objects will be increased, and if less than one - reduced. If you specify a scale factor Avtokad two (2), the rectangle will be doubled, and if 0.5 - halved.
Once you specify a base point, you will see a preview of the scaled object, and next to the cursor crosshair-object scaling indicator appears. Original rectangle will appear gray lines, and will be triggered binding to it. You will see a dashed yellow line that will follow from the base point to the cursor, crosshair.
We define the scale factor 2 by entering it in the command window of the dynamic input display. AutoCAD to scale the object, ie, increase rectangle out twice. Scale command automatically closes down.
Special method for object size changes in AutoCAD
We have considered how to set the scale in the default AutoCAD by specifying a base point and scaling factor. Special way to zoom an object implies a task AutoCAD scale by specifying a base point and a length, the length of which is used to calculate the scaling factor in the current drawing units of measurement.
Suppose we need to resize so Avtakad object to match the size of another object. Set the scale of the object in AutoCAD based on the size (scale) of another object, will help us Reference option.
Given two rectangles in AutoCAD arbitrary size. Not knowing the size of the first object (rectangle), we need to scale the second object (rectangle) in AutoCAD so that its dimensions were as in the first object (rectangle). Scale command, as I wrote above, scales the object in AutoCAD is directly proportional to, so we will change the scale of the rectangle length.
Call the command Scale and choose a second rectangle. At the command line prompt:
Specify base point:
Choose a base point the lower left corner of the rectangle with respect to which will be directly proportional scaling AutoCAD. AutoCAD prompts you:
Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference] <1.0000>:
Click the right mouse button and choose the command from the shortcut menu Reference line. AutoCAD displays the following query:
Specify reference length <1.0000>:
That is, we need to define two points in the drawing, defining the size of the object in AutoCAD. You can enter this value in the command line. Let us as the initial support of the second segment of the rectangle length (use the Endpoint snap AutoCAD prompts you:
Specify new length or [Points] <1.0000>:
Now you need to specify the new size (target reference segment). AutoCAD will automatically calculate the difference of the lengths (sizes) support segments, as well as the scale factor which is necessary to multiply the size of the second object (rectangle), AutoCAD, so that they were in line with the scale (length) of the first object.
Specify the new length of the target segment of the reference in AutoCAD, you can:
- enter a value in the second size komadny line;
- using the mouse to specify two points in the drawing, the distance between which is the target reference segment (second size) in AutoCAD (Points by option);
- or specify a point in the drawing are not using the option Points. In this case, the target segment of the reference in AutoCAD will be measured from the base point to the point you specify.
We choose Points option and specify two points of the first length of the rectangle. Once you specify the length of the first rectangle (object), the second rectangle (object) in AutoCAD will scale the length of the first (the length of the two objects (rectangles) are equal), and the Scale team has completed its execution.
Scaling in AutoCAD object on the reference interval is often used in AutoCAD. This method changes the scale of the objects in AutoCAD is widely used when it is necessary to scale in a fractional number 1/8, 1/12, etc. In the video tutorial, I examined in detail the way to zoom in AutoCAD.
Worth noting that the command line receives the input of the scale factor in AutoCAD in the form of a fraction (via Slash key - slashes directed to the right), and as a decimal number.
How to make a scaled copy of the object in AutoCAD
Option Copy Scale command allows you to reduce or enlarge an object in AutoCAD several times, but the original object remains unchanged, and the output we get to scale it up.
Make halving copy of the rectangle in AutoCAD.
Call the command Scale and select an object to scale. prompted the command prompt:
Specify base point:
We indicate the lower left corner of the rectangle, on which will change the scale. AutoCAD prompts you:
Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference] <1.0000>:
Select the Copy option. AutoCAD will repeat the request:
Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference] <1.0000>:
Note that the line of the rectangle of the original purchased the current color, as original rectangle remains unchanged. At the command prompt a scaling factor of 0.5 (the separation mark point, or enter coordinates on the command line) to reduce an object in AutoCAD twice. Once you specify the scale, AutoCAD build smaller scaled copy of the rectangle, and the Scale command automatically completes execution.
